Well, we are over the middle of summer and looking at that mode most Alaskans kick into- understanding energy better as we are always preparing for winter. Don’t miss out though on 10 excellent workshops in Room 138 of the Reichardt Building on UAF’s campus this week!

On Monday, July 22 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Building Energy Efficiency into Your Home by Bruno Grunau, of the Cold Climate Housing Research Center, and then from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Learn about Food Preservation Techniques from Roxie Dinstel of UAF Cooperative Extension Service.

On Tuesday, July 23 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.you can hear Biomass: Is It Right For Me and My Community? by Amanda Byrd of Alaska Center for Energy and Power followed at 7 by Living on Less by Roxie Dinstel of the UAF Cooperative Extension Service.

Midweek, on Wednesday, July 24 from 5:30 to 7p.m. see Chris Pike of Alaska Center for Energy and Power speak on Adding Renewable Energy: Opportunities and Tradeoffs. Following, is a discussion from 7-8:30p.m. on Hybrid Generator and Battery Solutions for Off the Grid lead by Jim Norman of ABS Alaskan, Inc.

On Thursday, July 25 at 5:30 to 7pm you can catch the presentation on Private Forest Management and Firewood by Glen Holt of UAF Cooperative Extension Service followed by Roxie Distel and Art Nash of UAF Cooperative Extension speaking on Radon: How Do You Know if It Is in Your Home?

Finally, on Friday, July 26 from 5:30 to 7pm hear Adaptations for Aging in Your Home by Art Nash, UAF Cooperative Extension Service with a follow up at 8:30pm presented as Alaska Energy and Your Community by Art Nash, UAF Cooperative Extension Service.
